Why choose resin for your driveway or patio?

What is a resin bound driveway?

Resin bound driveways are building regulations approved. They consist of using small gravel like stones that are bound together by resin to create a hard, but porous surface. Unlike tarmac and block paving, a resin driveway is not subject to weeds, nor will UV light damage or change its colour.

If you have an existing tarmac or block paving driveway, it could be that we can install the resin directly on top of your existing surface, thus saving you money.

It can be laid in a huge variety of colours and you can have different paterns or colours for paths. The 3 major benefits of resin are:

Maintenance free

Unlike tarmac or block paving, resin is completely maintenance free. Just the odd sweep of those leaves and it’s back to new again.

Anti-slip surface

Resin is a great choice for the elderley or for persons who need walking assistance. Non-slip and completely flat surface.

Completely porous

One of the great benefits of resin is no puddles because it is completely porous.

Why Oakleigh Resin is your perfect choice of company to install your resin driveway

Oakleigh Resin are specialist installers of resin driveways and resin patios. So why choose us?

Resin Bound Surfaces

We install Resin Bound surfaces that are fully compliant with UK Building Control Regulations.

A resin bound surface allows water to pass through it at a rate of approx 850litres per min, per sqm. This rate is substantially greater than rainfall (even with climate change) so your driveway will not puddle. It meets building regulations because it allows water to naturally drain into the soil beneath the drive, thus preventing water from running off driveways into roads and entering storm drains, because this contributes to flooding.

Tarmac and block paving, although somewhat porous, they often cannot cope with high volume of rainfall, therefore water ends up running into the road and entering storm drains. With more and more households requiring larger drives, a resin bound driveway is the surface that everyone should be aiming for.

Resin Bound Driveway: FAQ's

If you are replacing an existing driveway you will not need planning permission. Because Resin is porous you are not subjected to building control.

Unlike concrete, resin will not crack overtime. It’s a great surface to use in the UK, that’s why all the DIY TV programmes use it.

No. Resin is porous so it allows water to pass through it.

Resin can be used on a variety of existing surfaces, including concrete, asphalt, and brick. If we are widening or extending a driveway, you are likely to need a new sub-base.

Yes, see image for examples of colour schemes.

We only install UV stable resin. This kind of gravel resin doesn’t fade or discolour over time, so your drive will hold its colour for years to come..
